Meet the team

Boasting more than 60 years of locksmithing experience, Cathedral Lock And Safe Services Ltd’s operational staff have the expertise, skills and practical know-how to deliver an outstanding level of service. Any staff member working ‘in the field’ will be a qualified Master Locksmith, having been accredited by the British Locksmiths Institute (BLI), and they’re supported by a strong administrative team behind the scenes - ensuring that every project runs smoothly.

Colin Rose BLI, Managing Director

Colin, a former joiner, has spent two decades in the locksmithing industry and founded CLASS in 2004 with Phillip Hartley and David Sawyers. A fully qualified Master Locksmith and leading figure in the locksmithing industry, Colin sits on the boards of the Master Locksmiths Association and Sold Secure, an independent security product testing house. Working alongside the Master Locksmiths Association and Skills For Security, he has also been instrumental in developing a nationally recognised locksmiths apprenticeship qualification and apprenticeship framework.

David Sawyers BLI, IT Director

A co-founder of CLASS, David entered the locksmithing profession straight from leaving school and has worked in the industry ever since. A fully qualified Master Locksmith, he is a leading authority on master suites and is one of only a small number of locksmiths to use in-house master keying computer systems from high profile manufacturers.

Phillip Hartley BLI, Contracts Director

Phillip trained in mechanical design, gaining numerous qualifications, before he became hooked on locksmithing and decided to follow it as a career. A co-founder of CLASS and fully qualified Master Locksmith, his role includes overseeing contracts and preparing estimates, as well as working alongside the company’s other locksmiths.

Andrew Knowles BLI, Master Locksmith

Andrew, a fully qualified Master Locksmith since 2009, has a wealth of building industry experience, as well as joinery expertise. He specialises in installing access control systems, bringing his building knowledge to bear on large sites.

Paul Robson BLI, Master Locksmith

Paul joined CLASS in 2006, having previously worked in the building trade, and became a fully qualified Master Locksmith in 2009. His specialisms include cutting keys by hand, servicing, maintaining and repairing safes, and working with access control and intercom systems.

Clair Phillips, Bench Counter Locksmith/Trade Counter Sales Person

A member of the CLASS Ltd team since 2006, Clair formerly worked at a locksmiths’ wholesalers and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of keys and lock cases. As well as working as a bench locksmith and running the firm’s trade counter, where she deals with both trade and public enquiries, Clair oversees all of the firm’s master suites and has considerable expertise in automotive keys too.
